Important Notice: In addition to the list below, the two public national universities, the University of Namibia (UNAM) and Namibia University of Science
and Technology (NUST) are established by Acts of Law. Their qualifications are recognized by the NQA and are submitted to the NQA for quality assurance
and registration on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and are deemed authentic.

Our Services

Accreditation of Institutions
This principally involved in the receipt and evaluation of applications made by persons, organizations and institutions seeking accreditation from the NQA.
Evaluation of Qualifications

The determination by the NQA of the significance of a qualification obtained that has not been registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) of Namibia.

National Qualification Framework

Formalised through Cabinet decisions in 1994 that led to the creation of the NQA. The NQF is intended to be a register of all relevant and legal qualifications in Namibia.

What Does the NQA Do?

The NQA is a public enterprise that is responsible for quality assurance in higher education and training in Namibia. Some of the NQA’s statutory functions include accrediting training providers, evaluation of qualifications and managing the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) of Namibia. The NQA’s overall responsibility is to ensure that education and training in Namibia meets the required quality standards.

History and Formation

The Government of the Republic of Namibia foresaw the need for a central body to assume responsibility for identifying the competences needed within any occupational area.

Legislative objects

The NQA's legislative objects are: To set up and administer a national qualifications framework, Set the occupational standards for any occupation, job or positions in any career structure, among many others tasks.

Strategic Relations

The NQA actively networks with similar organisations and other parties to ensure that it keeps abreast of current trends and developments in education and training at a local, regional and international level.
